Set on top of a three-story rowhouse, this design required a modern solution despite its historic surroundings. The plan and structure are based on a simple column grid with a high space devoted to the architect's studios and lower spaces reserved for front offices and conference rooms. The grid is visually expressed in the exposed rooftop structure.

While simple, this project explores such issues as private and public space and spatial qualities. Important spaces in terms of volume and light are reserved for the client architects and for the conference rooms, where first impressions will be made. On the exterior, these spaces are setup proportionately to each other and the tripartite division of the facade helps this modern structure coexist with the rowhouse that it sits upon.
