Writing is really my first love, and I would scribble away even if I never got published.

nerd logoFor almost four years I've written a column called Net Nerds for PC Alamode Magazine, the award-winning 64-page monthly sent to the 4,200 members of Alamo PC Organization, Inc. The premise behind the column is that most people aren't interested in the technical stuff about the Internet but rather want to know what the heck they can do once they get there. Each month I tackle a different topic, from gambling to genealogy. The past columns are online at the Alamo PC website.

In August of 1998 I started a new column for the PC Alamode, Computer Crimes. Each month I review two or three mystery novels or thrillers that have a strong computer theme. It's heaven to be able to indulge in light reading and chalk it off to work. Surprisingly, I've learned a lot about computers, too. These are online at Alamo PC as well.

I sometimes write feature articles about computer topics.

Finally, I love doing software and book reviews. I've written dozens, but here's a few:

  • TagGen - a wonderful web utility that automates the creation of meta tags.

  • Managing Mailing Lists - One of those fantastic O'Reilly books.

  • Eye Candy - Photoshop filters that will make your life sweet.

  • XaraCube Screensaver - a freebie from Corel that was too good to keep secret.

SpaceAce - Will scrub your disk clean of unneeded files and save you tons of hard drive space.

  • Paint Shop Pro - I'm using version 5 now, but you get the idea.
