Hear The Call
If you are hearing the call of God and are ready to explore it more deeply, call or write for more information. Preparation for priesthood usually means about five years of study and ministry beyond a college degree (about the same as a doctor). Formation or training programs for priesthood take place at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio (graduate level) and college seminaries (undergraduate level). These provide the atmosphere where on can best grow toward becoming the best person and priest he can be.
“The dedication, commitment, and faith of the people inspire and sustain me. For those who are marginated or inactive, I seek to show them how big our Church is. How they have a place and a home with us. I want them to feel like they belong and recognize that the Church can be and is relevant to our daily lives.”
Rev. Jim Kammerer St. Leo’s Church San Antonio, Texas
“Priesthood is a gift. Like the burning bush that greeted and raised Moses’ curiosity, we are privileged to walk on the sacred ground of the lives of so many people. We take off our sandals as we are invited to walk with those who fill our ministerial days, to see and be trusted deeply to enter the inner sanctum of the hurting, the lost, the wounded.”
Rev. Michael Yarbrough St. Matthew’s Church Jourdanton, Texas
“I believe that my priesthood has truly been a breathtaking experience...There are challenges, blessings, joys and sorrows, all in my relationship with people. This call to the priesthood has been life-giving.”
Rev. Arturo Cepeda San Fernando Cathedral San Antonio, Texas
“I have ministered in this Archdiocese for the last 41 years. It has been a great blessing for me. I have no regrets for making that decision in 1951, only countless blessings from wonderful people and my brother priests; who have always been there for me. To serve God’s people and to know that you have helped people in their journey of faith is for me, a supreme joy.”
